Who can use the service?

 

The scheme is aimed at groups or individuals who are unable to use conventional public transport for reasons of age, frailty, impaired mobility or the lack of public transport. Our minibuses and MPVs are suitable for wheelchair users who cannot transfer to a car.

 

Where can I go?

 

The service can be used for journeys to:

 

  • Hospitals for appointments, admissions or visits

  • Health care appointments

  • Day Centres

  • Specialist Needs clubs

  • Social purposes

  • Shopping

 

How much does it cost?

 

For journeys in volunteer drivers' own vehicles, passengers make a contribution of fifty-five pence (55p) per mile travelled by the driver, confirmed at the time of booking. This is paid to the driver at the end of the journey.

 

The minimum charge is £5.50 per journey of ten miles or fewer.

 

Journeys in the minibuses and MPVs are charged at a higher rate, confirmed at time of booking.

When booking a journey, please give AT LEAST THREE working days' notice, unless it is an emergency, when we will always try to help. If the telephone is unmanned, a recorded message will ask you to leave your name and telephone number; the co-ordinator will call you back as soon as possible. Please note that a journey is NOT booked until confirmed by a co-ordinator.
